I don't think one HOWTO exists. I would go here

and look at some of the HOWTO's. You'll probably want the NFS for sharing files(SMB if you ever want windows machines on your network), NIS For authenticating your users, Firewall (Unless it will never see the outside). If you have any questions feel free to respond here or mail me.
