The world of virtualization seems to be getting passed by with all of the advances in containers and container management technology. But don't count virtual machines out just yet. Large-scale, centralized management for server and desktop virtual machines is available now, with the free and open source software platform oVirt. This KVM-based management tool provides production-ready VM management to organizations large and small, and is used by universities, businesses, and even major airports. Join Red Hat's Brian Proffitt on a tour of oVirt plus a fun look at how VMs and containers *do* work together.

PCP (Performance Co-Pilot) is a powerful and extensible framework for monitoring and analyzing system and application performance. In addition to traditional command line tools, it also offers beautiful graphical options as well.

In this session you will learn to use PCP in no time. Focus will be on the Fedora Linux distribution with references to using it also for MacOS, Windows, Containers and more!

Platform as a Service (PaaS) is market-speak for a cloud application platform that automates the hosting, configuration, deployment, and administration of application stacks in an elastic cloud environment. It gives application developers self-service access so they can easily deploy applications on demand. Join Red Hat technical account manager Bernie Hoefer as he introduces us to Red Hat's on-premise PaaS solution, OpenShift Enterprise. His presentation will go over what it is, how it works, how it is used in the enterprise and a demonstration of it.

Topic: Introduction to the pfSense open source firewall and router.

Presenter: Calvin Hendryx-Parker

Mr. Hendryx-Parker will be giving a presentation entitled "Introduction to the pfSense open source firewall and router." He will go over the features of this great security appliance and show how it back be used as a home gateway device and also how it can perform mission critical routing at the datacenter including the ability to handle BGP and High-Availability. Six Feet Up, Inc. co-founder Calvin Hendryx-Parker has decades of experience in fields as diverse as systems engineering, data modeling and information architecture. Calvin provides both the company and its clients with recommendations on tools and technologies, systems architecture and solutions that address specific information-sharing needs. His goal is to promote best practices and processes, and create a knowledge-sharing culture to enhance the effectiveness of operations and professionals. He also runs pfSense at his home and in the Enterprise at 2 datacenters.

Board members are elected at the CINLUG Annual Meeting in February of each year. We will also draw the annual door prizes at the February meeting.
