Over the past few years, you likely have heard buzz around Nix and NixOS, but what are they, really? What’s the difference between them? Why is everyone making such a fuss about them?
Ersei Saggi1 will describe what Nix and NixOS are, what a “flake” is, and why you should even care. Come join us at the September Central INdiana Linux User Group (CINLUG) meeting to hear!
The meeting will begin at 18:30 (6:30 PM) EDT on Wednesday, September 4th.
CINLUG thanks Moser Consultingfor hosting our meetings at their facility2. (There will be a phone number at the entrance to call to be let into the building.) The meeting will be simultaneously broadcast over this Jitsi Meet URL for those who cannot attend in person. (Though in-person attendance is encouraged.)
CINLUG meetings are the 1st Wednesday of every month, so please block that night off in your calendar to keep it available! Tentative upcoming topics are:
- October: Cluster High Availability
- November: Godot Engine Video Game Development
- Sometime this winter:
- RHELevant Security Practices
- Defend Yourself With Red Hat Security
- Ersei is a junior at Purdue University studying computer science and has enjoyed using Nix and NixOS for nearly a year. Ersei’s free time is spent writing on their website and going for a run… usually not at the same time. 😀 ↩︎
