Coming off the heels of Central INdiana Linux User Group’s (CINLUG’s) last meeting on securing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, this January we’ve got Greg Scott1 sharing his views on “Security Vulnerability Reporting: Who to Trust?”.
Questions always come up about how cyber security audit teams find and categorize vulnerabilities, and how to mitigate them. Vulnerability reporting has come a long way since MITRE Corporation invented the CVE concept in 1999. This presentation covers how vulnerability reporting works today, Red Hat’s position of trust in the CVE.org infrastructure, why customers should trust Red Hat as the ultimate source of truth regarding security vulnerability information around Red Hat products. Greg will also share some a few tips for navigating Red Hat vulnerability information.
Although CINLUG normally meets the 1st Wednesday of each month, that falls on a holiday in January 2025. So, our meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at its normal time: 18:30 (6:30 PM) EST.
CINLUG thanks Moser Consulting for hosting our meetings at their facility2. (There will be a phone number at the entrance to call to be let into the building.) The meeting will be simultaneously broadcast over this Jitsi Meet URL for those who cannot attend in person. (Though in-person attendance is encouraged.)
CINLUG meetings are generally the 1st Wednesday of every month, so please block that night off in your calendar to keep it available! Tentative upcoming topics are:
- TrueNAS
- Performance Co-Pilot
Please contact us if you have a topic that you’d like to see covered, want to present or know someone who might want to present.
